Coastal & Southeastern LandscapesLike many I am inspired by the great natural beauty of the coastal landscapes the southeast. Draped in exquisite light, like the Spanish moss hanging in weeping garlands, the marsh islands, beaches, and maritime forest offer a serenity that I find refreshing.

Digital ArtIn my digital art I am trying to create my own cosmos; a universe of personal symbolism, abstraction and emotion. In creating the images, I have fun exploring the technology, pushing it as far as it can go, opening the door to a whole new world.I am amazed at how far computer graphics has come as a tool for artists! The work on the digital art page is sort of a retrospective. Highlighting some of the work I created during what is termed ‘the paint box era’ in digital art. At that time, digital art was discriminated against; many in the art community did not consider it as real art. As Paul Brown states in his essay ‘Lessons Unlearnt’: “The lessons of history seems plain: the art mainstream is hideously reactionary and beware any creative soul who experiments beyond the boundaries they prescribe. For the past 25 year computers have been the forbidden medium. It was OK for established artists like Warhol and Hockney to use them but for a young unknown it was the kiss of death.” Today, we have made some headway and galleries and museums are starting to accept this new art form. |
