The fine art portfolios of Wynne Ragland, Jr.
Wynne is a digital printmaker, photographer and
artist whose compositions have surrealistic and futuristic overtones.
He uses a broad range of computer graphics programs to fully exploit the
medium and extract the visual effects he is seeking.
His early digital landscapes and abstractions combine shapes of different
sizes which he pastes different texture maps onto and manipulates till
his creations begin to form. Ragland states, “The model becomes
the brush, and the texture maps create the palette. It’s like working
with clay.” The colors of his palette are clear bright and unlimited.
The work is often as intense in emotion as it is in color.
In his most recent photographic work he has become fascinated with the
history, tranquility and on occasion the incongruous juxtapositions that
reflect the surface of the South. He formats these images in a square
format which is consistent with the rest, quietude, dignity, and timelessness
he is seeking. The square format also allows for the ability to combine
multiple photographic perspectives within the image, increasing the perceived
sense of depth. Resulting in a vision more like memories of a place, or
a riff from a delta blues guitar.
